Living costs
To take care of 25 children, to feed more than 50 mouth every day, to pay for the homes and wages, it costs on a yearly basis around:
€37 500 / $28 125 / £14 000
Medical and psychological help
Many of the children have psychological and physical problems due to neglect and sexual and/or physical abuses suffered in the past. In addition, they didn't receive adequate health care. As a result, many of them suffer from:
poor dental hygiene
learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia)
vision problems
dermatological problems
psychological problems resulting in bad behavior and lack of concentration
Medical and psychological help are needed to resolve these problems but are very expensive for Peruvians. Unfortunately the money just isn’t there. Would you like to help these children become healthy? You can do so by helping on a voluntary basis or by giving financial support.
Education
For ELIM, it is important that a child attends primary and secondary school. This is one of our priorities. We are looking for people who would like to support a child on a long-term basis.
SUPPORT A CHILD
Financing the reconstruction of the boys home
The boys’ home needs improvements, the building is very old and in serious need of reconstruction. It costs around:
€400 000 / $300 000 / £150 000
We are looking for a finance provider who is willing to help. It involves the construction of more floors which will be done in several stages. Therefore the total cost can be spread. Read more about the plans.
Financing the completion of the apartments
In the girls’ home, ELIM offers accommodation for the volunteers. They can stay there for a small fee. The income goes directly to ELIM and in this manner, the volunteers are already helping with the project.
Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to complete all the apartments due to lack of finances. Read more
Personnel
At the moment, the current employees are paid the minimum wage, which helps give more money to care for the children. In the future, we would like to improve their wages. After the reconstruction of the boys’ home, there will also be a need for more skilled employees and tutors.
